Zine Workshop & Artist Talk w/ Paradise Khanmalek
Su 7/16 @ 2PM

Location: Cielo Galleries/Studios, 3201 Maple Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90011

Curated by: Rhea Tepp & LA Zine Fest

This free zine workshop, co-hosted by L.A. Zine Fest and Paradise Khanmalek, invites participants of all experience levels to explore sexual and racial identities in the medium of self- publishing.

Paradise will discuss her work, her goals within zine communities and address queer and POC representation in mainstream publishing. Afterwards, workshop participants will get started on making an 8-page zine of their very own, with a how-to hosted by some of the organizers of L.A. Zine Fest.

Paradise Khanmalek (https://www.pardislili.com/), local artist and creator of the L.A. Zine Fest 2017 design, describes herself as an artist “trying to illustrate a world of fat, brown girls to make me feel better mentally and physically.” She also writes poetry about “magic, science fiction, life as a fat brown girl, and love.” (More about her work here: https://www.giantrobot.media/stories/2017/5/31/los-angeles-zine-fest)
