Ménage à loss
On Thursday September 4, please join us for a fun (ok–maybe partially sad–but also fun) night with three LA-based women writers:
In collaboration with DTLAB, MariNaomi, Myriam, and Zoë will each present two stories and each of their unique stories will include art in some way — whether that be comics or arts and crafts or images. In this way they will be make losing things pretty and by being there, you will be making those things pretty, too.
MARINAOMI is the creator of the award-winning graphic memoir Kiss & Tell: A Romantic Resume, Ages 0 to 22 (Harper Perennial, 2011), the upcoming Dragon’s Breath and Other True Stories (2D Cloud/Uncivilized Books, 2014), and her self-published Estrus Comics (1998 to 2009). Her work has appeared in over fifty anthologies, including I Saw You: Comics Inspired by Real Life Missed Connections, Cheers to Muses: Contemporary Works by Asian American Women, Eisner-nominated No Straight Lines, QU33R and Action Girl Comics. Her comics and essays have been featured on The Rumpus, The Weeklings, LA Review of Books, Truth-out, SFBay.CA, The Comics Journal, The Bay Citizen, XOJane and more.
MYRIAM GURBA lives in Long Beach, California, near the world’s most haunted boat, the Queen Mary. She wrote DAHLIA SEASON (Manic D Press), WISH YOU WERE ME (Future Tense Press), and SWEATSUITS OF THE DAMNED (Radar Productions). She blogs at lesbrain.wordpress.com. Her hobbies include doing crossword puzzles and misinforming children. She works as a teacher.
ZOË RUIZ lives and writes in Los Angeles. Her writing has appeared or is forthcoming in The Weeklings, Salon, Two Serious Ladies, Trop and the anthology California Prose Directory (2014). She is the former managing editor of The Rumpus and currently curates READINGS, a Los Angeles based reading series.
