Conversation & Workshop
From Margaret Atwood’s Handmaid’s Tale and Octavia Butler’s “Blood Child” and up through Jordan Peele’s GET OUT. Genre writers, including Tananarive Due and Michael Gonzales talk about weird fiction’s ability to take on huge social, governmental and human issues. How can weird fiction cut through the noise to get to the heart of controversial even incendiary issues? How can writers approach taking on these issues in their own writing?
The first half of the event will be a panel, in the second half we will have a writing exercise where you will generate your own genre story!
